The passengers of United Airlines Flight 93 on September 11, 2001 have earned their rightful place among the pantheon of American heroes. Flight 93 provides a riveting narrative based on interviews, oral histories, transcripts, recordings, personal tours of the crash site, and voluminous trial evidence made public only in recent years. There also is plenty of chilling new detail for listeners who think they know the story of the flight.

Utilizing research tools that were not available in the years immediately after the crash, the book offers the most complete account of what actually took place aboard United 93—from its delayed takeoff at Newark International Airport to the moment it plunged upside-down at 563 miles per hour into an open field in rural Somerset County, Pennsylvania.

I’ve read a lot of books about 9/11 and what happened on that day. This one adds much deeper insights about what happened on flight 93 with those courageous people. They knew they were going to die either way so they decided to go out with a bang and in their own Way in their own control and I love the extra insights of this book provided. I think those people who rushed the cabin are my new American heroes.

Incredible book with fantastic detail

This is near the top of the 9/11 books I’ve read/listened to. I thought the author would struggle to create a structured narrative and fill out a story where there are some important gaps, but he did a great job and it definitely is worth a listen.

A Top 9/11 Book

The story of Flight 93 is one that can never be forgotten. And as it fits into the overall story of the day that changed America, it stands out. For it was the one flight where a chance to revolt was taken and given, most by circumstance. Had the flight not been delayed, etc. it’s likely many would not have known what happened to the twin towers. And that the plane was deemed to be a missile. So the passengers sought to do something about it instead of allowing their plane to be a weapon to kill more people. Will Damron is the perfect narrator for this.
