From the New York Times bestselling author of The Frozen River, this “enthralling nail-biter” (People) of a novel brings the fateful voyage of the Hindenburg to life.

“At every page a guilty secret bobs up; at every page Lawhon keeps us guessing. Who will bring down the Hindenburg? And how?”—New York Times Book Review

On the evening of May 3, 1937, ninety-seven people board the Hindenburg for its final, doomed flight. Among them are a frightened stewardess who is not what she seems; the steadfast navigator determined to win her heart; a naive cabin boy eager to earn a permanent position; an impetuous journalist who has been blacklisted in her native Germany; and an enigmatic American businessman with a score to settle.

Over the course of three champagne-soaked days, their lies, fears, agendas, and hopes for the future will be revealed—and one will set in motion a plot with devastating consequences for them all.

If you enjoy historical fiction, this book is for you. It’s about a period of time that most people are not familiar with the Hindenburg disaster. There’s been major motion, pictures about it and many documentaries and this author provides one interesting storyline involving the actual characters that were present.

This book stimulated my interest enough to encourage me to look up more information about it, which is what historical fiction should do. The author actually incorporated extensive true facts into the story and I very much enjoyed reading about that period of time

Very entertaining story

Interesting historical fiction

I really enjoyed this book. I found the topic fascinating and didn’t know a lot about The Hindenburg. The author did a great job developing the characters, who were based on real people. There was some technical information about zeppelins and how they flew, but not so much that it was overwhelming or boring. I recommend this book. We read it for book club and it was enjoyed by all the women in our book club. Audible 20 review sweepstakes entry

What a great and interesting topic

As I have come to expect from Ariel Lawhon, this novel is no exception to her witty style and her ability to draw you in so deep you forget that you’re washing the dishes or driving. Before reading Flight of Dreams I had zero knowledge of airships or the like, which she quickly rectified. And the characters immediately come to life and become friends or mysterious enemies with the reader. Can’t wait for her next book!

Well Told, Capturing and Delightful! Albeit melancholy

If you are a history buff, and enjoy a bit of a WWII mystery mixed in with real life, don't miss this book. I am glad I read it and would read another by this author. Also, the narrator is great, and the author paints vivid pictures with her words.

From all the pictures I assumed everyone on board this airship died but that isn't so. The book opens telling you of two, possibly three, survivors that this story hinges around. This way, it's very much cat and mouse as you are left guessing who did what and who survived. Well written.

Very Vivid and Interesting

I love this author, but this book was a bit tough for me to get into. I really didn’t love the narrator, so perhaps that was part of it. The story is good though & I loved that it was something so different from other historical fiction novels.

I wanted to love it
