Two monstrous evils. The quiet suburban town of Hampstead is threatened by two horrors. One is natural. The hideous, unstoppable creation of man's power gone mad. The other is not natural at all. And it makes the first look like child's play.©1983 Peter Straub (P)2009 Audio Holdings, LLC Horror

I enjoyed this - but - the severely abridged version here was disappointing! The original book was so good. Why doesn’t the title page advise this is condensed edition? It should say so!

Seriously condensed form of book

I enjoyed the book. But felt the abridged version left a lot out. Characters felt under developed and the story wrapped up too quickly. Overall I liked the story but knowing Mr. Straub's association with S. King, the story felt very reminiscent of It.

Good Story

The book was incredible and fully detailed. This perhaps was someone’s bad idea of a joke. I can only surmise that this would be a tremendous disappointment to Peter Straub if he were still around to see it. A whole lot of the best details were completely excised from this version.

Disappointingly Synopsized
