A stand-alone paranormal murder mystery inspired by a disturbing true story....

Two years ago, Gloria Cline had the worst night of her life. A music festival deep in the woods near the Porcupine Mountains turned deadly when Gloria and her best friend, Wren, went for a night walk.

Twenty-four hours later, Gloria was found barely clinging to life with a horrific story of being abducted and nearly murdered.

No trace of Wren was ever found.

Today, Gloria has walled herself into a safe world that relies on routine and familiarity. She doesn’t leave her apartment—ever.

But somehow evil has gotten in....

When another young woman vanishes, Gloria realizes her hazy recollection of her own near-murder may hold the keys to finding the woman before she suffers a similar fate.

Don't miss this chilling paranormal murder mystery.

I'm a J.R. Erickson fan and didn't realize it. When I look at my library, yup. I've listen to many of her stories. There were moments when I stopped. looked around to make sure I was safe. That's how thrilling it gets at times. Gloria's recount of how the PTSD and agoraphobia affect her is so hard breaking. It was a good book, although I thought a bit rushed at the end. Seemed like Detective Webb had a lot of responses, but questions still remained. Like how did Kelly know to look where she did? How did Jeff know when Gloria was at the cabin? Why did the cops not notice the guy following the girls in the pictures? Why hide Kelly, but not Wren? Why leave Wren exposed for someone to find her? How does Glo not know about Gwen? Still a good read.

I think this is my favorite in the series so far! I loved the characters and the story. It also kept me guessing until towards the end. Rich with beautiful detail and also great empathy and understanding of some of the difficulties the main character had. Ready to read the next one :)

Love this story

The story starts off right to the point and I love when a story tells me what I’m expecting immediately. The story is sad, but inspiring as well. I definitely recommend it and also to learn the back story to the book.

The ending was definitely a surprise!

LOVED this book. Perfect blend of mystery and the paranormal. Heartbreaking plot, amazing character development. Kept me guessing to the very end. This narrator is one of my favorites. Every book I read from this author is even better than the previous one. Can’t wait to read the next book in this series!

This book was entertaining and kept me listening. I have listened to many of Erickson's books. This wasn't one of the best, but worth the time.
