This book investigates the lives of historical Believers so that Christians today can gain inspiration and lessons from the unique part they played in the tapestry of life. Obviously, the Believers covered in this book were psychologically imprinted, or perhaps I could say, brainwashed by their contemporary cultures. But how should a modern Christian analyze the attitudes and actions of historical Christians? Should they be judged by the values of the generation or age they lived in, or should they have operated from a life lived in the Spirit no matter the era that they were from? Surely it must be possible to identify fruits of the Spirit, Biblical virtues, and enduring beatitudes in Believers no matter which age and prevailing culture existed at the time.
