Christy Award finalist Deborah Raney has garnered the RITA Award, the HOLT Medallion, and a Silver Angel for such soul-stirring fiction as Forever After. Once a proud firefighter like his father, Lucas Vermontez lost his dad and his best friend in the fire that disabled him. When friendship with his buddy’s lovely widow develops into something more, Lucas - unable to pursue the calling he loves - fears he has little to offer the financially strapped Jenna.

I loved the story line of Lucas and Jenna. As a matter of fact, I enjoyed ALL of the story lines that got started. Just wish there had been more development of some of the other characters.

Great story, however…

I enjoyed this book immensely, God’s Word, intermingled with drama, family life, personalities, ambitions, fears, victories and more. Anxious to hear more from Deborah Raney

This story gave a great perspective into the lives of people who have suffered great tragedies. The life lessons are very valuable- even though these are fictional characters, we can all learn from their journey.

Deep point of view of characters

Loved how "real" this book was.... how it addressed feelings that are hard to understand, much less admit. i love that it shows how, even when we are hindered physically, our hearts don't always easily accept our new life course.

Real

I don’t have anything against Christian romance. I thought that this book had some great moments but I felt that the main male character was a bit of a bully and used his faith more as a hammer. The main female character never did tell him everything about her childhood and he didn’t seem to care about her reasons for a lot of her fears. I am glad she found her faith in the end and hope he understands the true Christ part of Christianity. The narration was fine.

It was okay and had its moments but not great
