Saved from death at the hands of the Emperor Ddwng, would-be lovers Colene and Darius and their companions - Provos, a woman who remembers only the future, and Sequiro, a telepathic horse - stumble into yet another dangerous reality where despots rule with a cruel and heavy hand.

Held captive, the friends must combine their unusual talents in a daring escape that leads them on adventure after adventure with the most intriguing characters - some threatening, some friendly - ever to grace the page or the earbud.

Among them are Angus, the adorable flying giant; Nona, the lovely and magical "ninth of the ninth"; Slick, the gangster with a death sentence; and the megaplayers, mysterious musicians of old whose giant instruments still dot the landscape.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, It's a very good listen.

What did you like best about this story?

The writer greatly expands Colenes character. The subject matter is simply fascinating and well developed explanations for those unfamiliar with fractals. The other main character, Darius, remains virtually undeveloped and we know little more about him than he is a guy from another dimension (mode) . Still I would recommend this book as very entertaining.
Nothings perfect.

Which character – as performed by Mark Winston – was your favorite?

The horse.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No

Any additional comments?

It's worth reading and well worth the listen, but not in one sitting. There are too many facts to absorb and enjoy!

Finally a Story!

I am a true Piers Anthony nut. I listen to, or read, his books over and over. I thought I had read all his books. Then I found several more he had written. And I could get them cheap too. But I balk at too much FREE stuff. I believe the Author truly deserves his money! So I have started updating all my collection with Hardback Copies, that I gladly pay for. And Piers Anthony is the best author who's books I have ever read. Barely beating out Ann McCaffrey (sorry but it's true) and Dean Koontz.
I am cursed with the PhotoStatic memory. Not Photographic. I don't just remember the whole book, not QUITE. But I can read the first few lines of a book and then close the book and continue resiting the book word for word without errors. You see after prompted by the first few lines I actually "SEE" the text exactly as I read it. This really messes up Reading a book again. I t takes the joy out of re-reading.
But then I discovered that if I LISTENED to it in Audio format my cursed great memory didn't kick in! Then I could listen to my beloved Piers Anthony's books over and over without loosing any of the joy.

Listened to over and over. Always entertaining.
