When Kimberly Bowman, a guarded English teacher with a bruised heart, is assigned to co-lead the high school Homecoming Committee with the school’s new football coach, sparks fly—but not the kind she wants. Coach Zach Preston is arrogant, image-obsessed, and determined to rebuild his career on the backs of teenage athletes. Kim wants nothing to do with him—or with love, for that matter.

But when a student is seriously injured on the field, the fallout forces Zach to confront his past failures and Kim to confront the walls she’s built around her heart. As they navigate school politics, family tensions, and their own emotional wounds, both must decide if they’re willing to risk vulnerability for something deeper than pride or fear.

Set in a small Arkansas town where Friday night lights shine bright and reputations matter, Friday Night Grace is a story of second chances, quiet courage, and the healing power of love rooted in grace.

Friday Night Grace is set in small town in Arkansas(my home state so I thought that was pretty neat) where Kim and Zach are both working on the Homecoming event and do not agree on anything at first. She wants to keep traditional and he’s wanting to make it a bigger event with a bigger turnout to help him rebuild his career. This book in the beginning reminds me a lot of some of the football coaches in our own town where he only cares about football programs and that is it. I thought this was a great clean listen and narrator done a great job.

I enjoyed this audiobook overall. I wasn’t sure about a Christian romance, but I appreciated that the faith elements without feeling overly heavy-handed, which made the story feel natural and easy to get into.

My only challenge was the narration. The narrator has a clear, pleasant voice, but he sounded older than the characters are written, which made it a little harder to connect with the romance. Since the story focuses on younger characters, the vocal tone sometimes didn’t quite match their stage of life.

Still a solid performance overall, just not the perfect fit for this particular story.

Sweet story, dated narration
