This title uses virtual voice narration

Virtual voice is computer-generated narration for audiobooks.

It has taken more than two decades, but the members of the Leiston School Winter Adventure Group of 1990 are finally reunited near their old school.

The intimate gathering opens with the renewal of old friendships at a private Lake Michigan estate near their old school. But the alcohol-fueled camaraderie soon melts away as old rivalries begin to surface, as do old secrets — one old secret in particular. Twenty-five years ago, this group headed into an Upper Peninsula wilderness for a winter camping adventure. They ended up stranded and cut off for days by a huge winter storm. When they were finally rescued, hungry and frostbitten, their chaperone was missing and so were the facts.

Now, as the group assembles for a late morning brunch, someone else is missing. A search leads to the discovery of a body, and Ray Elkins, the local sheriff, is called in to investigate. But just like the first time, what happens at Leiston stays at Leiston, and Sheriff Elkins is greeted with hostility and a pact of silence.

The AI voice pronounced words wrong in the context of record (a written transcript) & record (to tape a statement) and the context of alum (a graduate of a school or college) & alum (as a mineral compound). The number of the next chapter was read as part of entrance without an ending pause before saying the next chapter number. These were irritating errors in reading. A person would not have made these errors.

After it got going and the characters were known, it took off. Everything I anticipated was wrong bringing lots of interesting turn of events!

A little slow to get started.

I barely got 15 minutes into this book before bailing after all the mispronunciations by this virtual voice. There are some things that real humans should be doing. Or at the very least they should be editing and fixing mistakes. Wish I could get my money back for this waste of time.

AI isn’t for everything

Do not recommend.. I guess you can get the gist of the story, but the AI narration just destroys anything the story tries to build. I did finish, it was a good goodnight bedtime listen. But don't worry AI is not coming for any jobs soon.

AI narrater.. I was so curious
