F. Paul Wilson returns with another riveting episode in the saga of Repairman Jack, the secretive, ingenious, and heroic champion of those whose problems no one else can fix. As Dean Koontz says, “Repairman Jack is one of the most original and intriguing characters to arise out of contemporary fiction in ages. His adventures are hugely entertaining.”

Jack learns that his father is in a coma after a car accident in Florida. They’ve been on the outs, but this is his dad, so he heads south to Gateways, a retirement community on the Everglades. The woman Semelee, who has strange talents and lives in an isolated area of the Everglades with a group of misshapen men, feels his presence. She senses that he’s “special,” like her. To protect his father from becoming the next fatality at Gateways, there are questions Jack must answer, secrets he must uncover.

Critic reviews

“Call a plumber when the sink is clogged, the cops when you’ve been robbed, but when the you-know-what hits the fan, it’s time to call Repairman Jack.” ( New York Daily News)

Continues to get better. The foundation is getting stronger and deeper. Even knowing where it's going I'm still excited.

Keeps getting better

I'm packing to move and have had Repairman Jack running on my iPad for over a week now, one after the other. So far this is, in my opinion, the best story of the first 7. Including The Early Years---this series has kept me interested and helped m not be bored while packing....Don't know what I'm going to do when I get to Book 15!

Recommended, but it's best to read/listen in order.

So Far My Favorite R.J. story

Would you listen to Gateways again? Why?

Probably would listen to again if I didn't have anything new to listen to.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

This one had a good plot. Outcome somewhat predictable but getting there not so much. This goes into details about Jack's relationship with his father and just goes to show when you think you know someone (especially one's own parent) there are things you'll never know or may be very surprised to learn.

Have you listened to any of Christopher Price’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Christopher Price did a great job as usual.

One of the Best Repairman Jack books

Apparently it had been long enough since the last time I read this, that I didn’t remember most of the storyline. So when certain events started to happen, I got a rush of nostalgia for the last time I read it, as well as anticipation about what might be coming next. Great story, great characters, great narration. The voice Christopher Price is able to do for the character Anya, the accent and the hoarseness that would come from years of smoking, is really good. Just how I would’ve imagined it.

Struck by memories upon recent reread
