Longtime personal assistant Georgie Mulcahy has made a career out of putting others before herself. When an unexpected upheaval sends her away from her hectic job in L.A. and back to her hometown, Georgie must confront an uncomfortable truth: her own wants and needs have always been a disconcertingly blank page.

But then Georgie comes across a forgotten artifact—a "friendfic" diary she wrote as a teenager, filled with possibilities she once imagined. To an overwhelmed Georgie, the diary's simple, small-scale ideas are a lifeline—a guidebook for getting started on a new path.

Georgie's plans hit a snag when she comes face to face with an unexpected roommate—Levi Fanning, onetime town troublemaker and current town hermit. But this quiet, grouchy man is more than just his reputation, and he offers to help Georgie with her quest. As the two make their way through her wishlist, Georgie begins to realize that what she truly wants might not be in the pages of her diary after all, but right by her side—if only they can both find a way to let go of the pasts that hold them back.

Contains mature themes.

Editorial Review

My favorite romance lead of the year so far!
Kate Clayborn is one of those wonderful writers who seems to be getting better with each book. Everything about this story is perfection: This is small-town romance done right with such a lovingly depicted and real setting (raises hand as someone who grew up near coastal Virginia!). It's grumpy vs. sunshine, but with such a devastatingly authentic backstory for Levi that the trope really sings here. And then there's Georgie, who I dare you not to fall absolutely in love with. She embraces something that most of us stash behind a mountain of imposter syndrome, that feeling of not knowing who we are meant to be. But she's done running away from herself, and her vulnerability turns out to be her superpower. The deftness with which Clayborn peels back all the layers to Georgie and Levi's story is remarkable, and not to be missed. —Emily C., Audible Editor

This is SO good! It has all the feels! Emotional, swoony, sweet and quirky.
Kate Clayborn is a new to me author and she has a wonderful way about her writing that draws you in. The supporting characters are*characters too. Set in a small town and it has a dog!! Come on! What more could you want?!?!

Amalie Griffin is a new to me narrator and she is excellent as Georgie, the FMC. And Levi, the MMC is narrated by Alex Kydd. He is so fantastic and brings out all the emotions when he is acting. You feel it all. He's one of my auto buys and favorites! 💞
What are you waiting for, get this now! Don't let it sit on your tbr like I did. You'll be grinning in no time.

This book was such a fun, easy, good read. It felt like a hallmark movie or a snuggly rom com. It made me think a little differently about being in a place where you don’t know what’s next. Like, is it really a BAD thing to not have a plan? Is it ok to just ENJOY your life EXACTLY where you are??

The story is kind of cliche but it’s very cute, easy listening. It’s feelgood. But that guy’s fake Southern accent sounds like someone doing a caricature. It was hard to listen to.

What is that Southern accent

I found the story a bit tedious but best at end! A bit much detailed bed time got old.

Happy Ending
