Winston Churchill was born to wealth and nobility in the United Kingdom, blessed with advantages most could only dream of. But despite his high birth, he overcame personal obstacles on the way to being one of the most famous and successful self-made men in history. And the lessons he took to heart most profoundly were learned in the schoolroom of the British Army.

In his role as a soldier, a leader of men in battle, even as a writer, he was impressive yet relatable. A patriotic civil servant of the British Empire, he dedicated his life towards the glory of his country, and towards the world's democracy.

A seat in Parliament proved the spot best suited to his ambition. While his vision allowed him to see ahead to trending events most could not understand. Over the years he was never finished learning, as much from his defeats and humiliations as from his bravery and foresighted triumphs. He was the embodiment of "We shall never surrender", when his nation was marked for an inevitable defeat.
