Everyone has a life story to tell. Faith Ireland has more than 160 of them here in this unconventional memoir by an unconventional woman. From age 12, when she knew she wanted to be a lawyer, against the prevailing gender norms of the day, to age 57, when she became one of just a handful of women to serve on the Washington State Supreme Court, Faith blazed trails for women as she broke down barriers for herself. Told in poignant moments that take just moments to digest, Faith guides us through a life of ups and downs, incredible triumphs and inevitable tragedies. And every lesson she learns along the way, she passes on to us in the form of a thoughtful question or thought-provoking quote.

Faith Ireland’s journey from unwed mother to the state Supreme Court is an inspiration to anyone striving to grab life’s brass rings. This is a woman who is a mold-breaker. Her story is a study in living a full life of public service, trusting in her instincts, and never giving up when things got tough. She met tragedies in the sudden loss of her best friend and her brother, both young and vital, with courage and faith (yes, Faith).

If you give up on your dreams, your dreams will give up on you. — John Wooden

Throughly enjoyed reading about a woman I remember as a 4 or 5 year old child as Faith Ireland was my babysitter. I am the daughter of her early mentor, Bob Greive. Having had that early childhood experience of her presence and caring I’m not surprised she reached the heights that she accomplished. A lovely young woman and a fabulous and accomplished woman.

The strength and determination to achieve against multiple odds is truly inspiring.

Faith describes her early life and her unlikely path to the supreme court. Her passions, obstacles, and perseverance drive her, but her family and community support and uplift her. I was uplifted by this book, which breaks the fourth wall to engage me in Faith's story.

Inspiring story of faith and resilience
