From best-selling mother-daughter duo ReGina Welling & Erin Lynn comes a supernatural whodunit full of ghostly intrigue and a witty amateur sleuth who can't escape the past—even when it's six feet under—brought to life through the captivating narration of Mia Cannedy.

Dead exes don't text. But they can haunt.

Everly Dupree's fresh start is turning into a paranormal rom-com nightmare. Husband in bed with her best friend? Check. Fired from her job at his family's company? Check. Moved back to her hometown only to discover her parents rented out her childhood bedroom? Seems par for the course. But it gets worse when Everly checks into the Bide-A-Way Motel and stumbles upon her high school ex-boyfriend's definitely murdered body in the room next door.

And also his ghost. Who only she can see. Talk about a plot twist. Hudson Montayne is dead, pushy, and somehow even more annoying than he was at seventeen—and he refuses to rest until Everly pieces together the clues and finds his killer. The problem? She's no detective, and Hudson's ghostly "help" is about as useful as a screen door on a submarine.

Everly doesn't want to solve murders. She doesn't want to talk to restless spirits. She just wants a cozy, quiet life, a glass of wine, and maybe five minutes to herself. Turns out, ghosts rarely take no for an answer, and she quickly realizes if she doesn't do what Hudson wants, she'll never get rid of him.

Between dodging nosy neighbors, navigating endless gossip, and enduring Hudson's sarcastic commentary from beyond the grave, Everly's sanity is hanging by a thread. And that's before people start suspecting she knows more about Hudson's mysterious and perplexing death than she's letting on.

But small-town secrets rarely stay hidden, and Hudson's murder is just the beginning. The more Everly uncovers, the clearer it becomes—someone will stop at nothing to keep the truth hidden. Fresh start? More like paranormal purgatory. And in Mooselick River, everyone's watching.

Fmc narrator is driving me nuts! She has different inflection on words and it’s very distracting. I think just maybe this narrator is not for me. Couldn’t get into the story cause I was distracted by the narrator. If I do continue this series I will be reading it and not listening.

Not an easy book to get through

this was actually super cute. it's a good way to get your ghost fix without any stress or high stakes. I didn't fully vibe with the narrator, but it wasn't enough to completely put me off

Cute!

Narrator sounds very much like virtual voice which detracts from the story overall. The story line is intriguing and had higher expectations for this book than warranted. Very tempted to check out another book by this author but haven’t done so yet.

Narration subpar
