Chicago, Illinois has one of the eeriest pasts of any city in America. From opportunistic grave robbers that stole countless cadavers to a condemned criminal who may or may not have been brought back to life by doctors, ghastly tales of the macabre abound in the Windy City.

Some of Chicago’s most historic places are also home to sullen specters stuck in time. From an old hotel adjacent to grant park to the location of the long forgotten jail where dozens of men were hanged, forgotten phantoms have been lurking about for centuries.

Some of the stories are lighthearted and entertaining, while others will leave you with your jaw on the floor. With each creepy tale, Ghost Stories and graveyard Tales: chicago invites you to dig into the town’s dark past to learn what the history books won’t tell you.

I loved the historical ghost stories, which are detailed and well told! Even the story of the creature (not a ghost) was good. A few too many stories about chicanery and fake mediums for me, but if you like the historical phenomenon, you may enjoy them.

The real ghost stories were superb! A bit much about fake mediums.

Very repetitive narration, entire sections are getting repeated, leads me to believe that the book itself was also written with AI, AI narrator does not know how to give performance or differentiate voice or pace itself so chapters were very sudden. Overall interesting subject matter with some interesting tidbits, but poorly executed needed and editor for a real writer and a real narrator.

AI bad
