What if the local legends were true? What if the whispers from the past never faded?

In the quiet corners of New England, where history holds a grudge, some stories are best left untold. From a lonely Vermont trail where a mysterious lantern lures hikers to their doom, to a historic Salem house where a 17th-century diary is not a journal but a trap, this collection unearths the terrifying truths behind the region’s most unsettling folklore.

Venture to a salt-scoured lighthouse on the coast of Maine where the dead keeper still stands watch, walk the silent grounds of a Harvard graveyard where a 300-year-old debate still rages among the spirits, and listen for the phantom song of murdered workers in a forgotten Rhode Island mill. These are tales of atmospheric suspense and folk horror, where ordinary people are forced to confront the tangible specters of long-dead killers, forgotten victims, and ancient guardians.

For lovers of classic hauntings, historical mysteries, and the unsettling quiet of a story told in the dead of night. This collection of fifteen chilling tales invites you to discover the secrets history tried to bury.

New England has such beautiful pastoral landscapes all ripe for “all hollows” harvesting traditions & tales. Each story submitted can best be imagined being read to you by your more “theatrical grandparent” as you nestle in their kitchen near the fire. My favorite tale of them all in this volume is the one Ethan Blackwood left for last. Yes, these are GHOST stories but while I would say they could fill your noggins with the stuff to make ghostly dreams, hardly would a full-on nightmare be gained from a late night listen to these tremendous tale. This book of stories shows exactly why GHOST STORIES were a popular Christmas holiday sport…as well as read by any fire side no matter what time of year.

Excellent ghost stories! ~ Although perhaps all are not ‘zack-a-tackle’ ghosts
