Coming of Age

I enjoyed the book overall, though I felt that it should have been labeled as a young adult novel. It's perfect for that classification! It's a coming of age story of a teenager and his friends, with an assortment of adults teaching them about magic, history, and their place in the changing world. It's another story about teenagers who are unusually powerful who happen to live next door to each other and discover their powers right as the bad guys start ramping up their evil plot. I liked the characters overall, the story kept my interest, and the reader had a pleasant voice and cadence. I did get frustrated a few times because the teenage girl sounded too much like a little kid, and the evil wizard sounded very caricatured BWAHAHAHA! ...but that was entertaining in its own way.
