"This quaint performance by a five-narrator ensemble will tug at the heartstrings."- AudioFile

Trailblazing pop star, actor and director, Hayley Kiyoko debuts her first novel, a coming-of-age romance based on her breakthrough hit song and viral video, GIRLS LIKE GIRLS.

It’s summertime and 17-year-old Coley has found herself alone, again. Forced to move to rural Oregon after just losing her mother, she is in no position to risk her already fragile heart. But when she meets Sonya, the attraction is immediate.

Coley worries she isn't worthy of love. Up until now, everyone she's loved has left her. And Sonya's never been with a girl before. What if she's too afraid to show up for Coley? What if by opening her heart, Coley's risking it all?

They both realize that when things are pushed down, and feelings are forced to shrivel away, Coley and Sonya will be the ones to shrink. It’s not until they accept the love they fear and deserve most, that suddenly the song makes sense.

Based on the billboard-charting smash hit song and viral music video GIRLS LIKE GIRLS, Hayley Kiyoko's debut novel is about embracing your truth and realizing we are all worthy of being loved back.

Editorial Review

What you won’t do for love
Multihyphenate Hayley Kiyoko’s trajectory and creative prowess fascinates me: She’s a pop star, actress, social media sensation, director and now we can add author to the list. Her debut YA novel, based on the hit song she penned of the same name, covers grief, longing, and belonging in a multifaceted yet approachable way. Coley, who is voiced by Kiyoko, is facing devastating loss and seismic shifts in her world when she meets and falls for Sonya, a confident, popular girl in the new town she never wanted to move to. Set in the early aughts, the AIM messages and Live Journal entries add a fun nostalgic touch. This coming-of-age story about losing and finding yourself in formative relationships delivers. Get lost in this listen this summer. —Kelley S., Audible Editor

When I first watched the music video Girls Like Girls 7-8 years ago, I was 24, finally out of the closet, and had just experienced my first heartbreak with the first woman I had ever fell in love with. It hit home in more ways than one and took me right back to all those ups and downs of learning and loving such a big part of who you are in a much scarier world at the time. This book took me right back as well and on an even deeper level. I haven’t had a book bring me to tears in a long time - but they were happy tears. Thank you Hayley for making a point to create queer art. I’m grateful for artists like you. The queer experience when it comes to love is too beautiful of one to not create non-stop art about. We are the most unlucky yet luckiest people when it comes to our journey with love. 🧡💛🤍🩷

This story is a healing experience for queer millennials! I laughed, cried, and cheered!
It's everything I hoped it would be, and more!
The poetic way she describes her feelings is so validating to hear as a girl loving girl. (who was also on aim in 2006)
Listening to this audiobook is truly like hearing the gay gospel from lesbian Jesus herself!
I only wish we could have a sequel...

Okay Hayley… that was beautiful. For those who have gone through very similar les situations, I know you felt this as I did. I was able to picture it all as I listened. Having Lesbian Jesus read us a truly queer perfect story was everything (and hearing that reference made me giggle). It’s time for Netflix to grab this as a series! Well done Hayley, well done!

This is so amazing! The passion, the romance, the thrill, I went to a Hayley Kiyoko concert on the last day of the tour for Panorama and my sign that said “we love lesbian Jesus” go recognized by Hayley. It was an experience I will remember for the rest of my life and this book is also. The vibe and description of girls falling in love with each other, truly captured the essence of summer. 🫶Hayley Kiyoko has done it again folks.

The best book I’ve ever read…
