One minute I was on my couch, halfway through a six-hour gaming binge. The next? I woke up in a glittering throne room with a crown-wearing pretty boy announcing that I was his “summoned warrior, foretold by prophecy.”

Which is hilarious, because the only thing I’m good at fighting is lag.

Prince Irian looks like he stepped straight out of a fantasy RPG—sharp cheekbones, silken hair, armor that probably costs more than my car. He’s deadly serious about this whole “savior of the realm” thing. Meanwhile, I’m standing there in sweatpants with chip crumbs on my shirt.

Naturally, he insists I can’t leave until the “quest” is complete. Naturally, we have to travel together. Naturally, there’s only one bed in every inn.

And while Irian keeps calling me useless, he also keeps sneaking glances when I strip down to wash, asking oddly curious questions about human “bonding rituals,” and getting way too close when he thinks I won’t notice.

I was supposed to save his world. Instead, I think he’s planning to ruin mine—one heated look at a time.

Pros and cons

The story was good but I absolutely did not like the virtual voice. It didn’t fit with the story.
