Thirty years ago, Dante and his friends dared to ride the notorious Gnome Cave, a theme park attraction known for its cheerful gnomes and infamous for its terrifying finale—a dragon so dreaded it led to the ride’s closure. When Dante’s own fear stopped his group from confronting the beast, their adventure ended prematurely, leaving him with a lifetime of regret. Determined to rewrite the past, Dante reunites his old friends to explore the now abandoned park and finally finish the ride. But what has been lurking in the shadows for decades is far more sinister than childhood nightmares. Dante’s redemption may cost his friends more than they ever imagined. Growing up doesn't mean outgrowing the fear. From the imagination of filmmaker James Rolfe (the Angry Video Game Nerd), this is a story that will take you back to the past... in a different kind of way.

Gnome Cave is a pretty good, although seemingly rushed, story of how ones nostalgia and yearning for the past can all go horribly wrong.

I can't feel but James rushed this story because by the end there are so many questions that never get answered, and I have this lingering feeling that he wanted to write more.... but for some reason ultimately left the story feeling full of holes.

Overall, for his first foray into being an Author (besides his autobiography) James did a pretty decent but flawed job, and I can't wait to see what he comes up with next!

a good horrific tale of Nostalgia gone wrong

The book itself was well written. It didn't go quite the way I expected, which was also nice. it being voiced by The Nerd himself was also cool. Nothing groundbreaking, but i still, thoroughly, enjoyed it.

A short, but really cool title

The book starts a little slow and presents itself as more of an age story, but it suddenly becomes a psychological slasher tale, almost like a rated Goosebumps installment

When stuff starts to happen, it really happens

As others have said, it starts slow and then suddenly goes crazy. There’s a story of not idealizing the past in there. I hope this gets animated some day.

AVGN is a treasure as always

A long time ago, I remember watching a video by James in which he mentioned this story. I always wanted to hear the end of it, so I was pleasantly surprised when this came out. It was good to finally finish the story.

I remember this…
