The Failure of Classical Apologetics

Everyone loves apologetics. Apologetics teaches us the foundation of our faith. Apologetics gives us reasons to believe that Christianity is true. But if faith is trusting in what you have good evidence to believe (according to apologist Frank Turek), why did Paul say, "We walk by faith and not by sight"? If scripture is the ultimate and greatest authority, why does it need to be propped up by scientific data and logical arguments? This book examines the discipline known as classical apologetics, and places it squarely in its biblical context, of which there is none. God does not need logic and he does not need science to fortify his word or to prove that he exists. Classical apologetics misleads men into believing they have salvation when they only have mental assent to logical propositions and superficial acceptance of material facts. It misleads men into believing they are saved when they are not. Apologetics is not an evangelistic tool and none of the prophets, apostles, or even Christ engaged in it.
