God is you. Yes, you! The you that you see in the mirror. You are a visible, physical representation of the impersonal Being known as “I AM,” the consciousness called God.
When you first see your reflection, you don’t recognize God. But you’ve known God—known yourself as God—even before you knew this current version of you. That’s how consciousness awakens, by gradually recognizing itself.
God was never outside of you. The being that you may or may not have worshiped on the outside is you. Yet this “you” that is called God is so much more than your limited human persona. It’s the consciousness that knows you. It’s your greater self, your deeper self, your infinite being—call it what you will. The important thing is that it’s within you.
God is your awareness, and your awareness has been dormant, asleep. As it begins to wake up, you feel the sensation of movement and change. You’re more aware of conflict and duality. The awakening process feels slow at first, and the vessel that contains your awareness (your human mind) still feels small and limited. You begin to question the reality you find yourself in. You know there’s more to this existence than you've been told or had the experience of so far. Questions show up in mass and answers start to trickle in.
The purpose of this book is to help answer those questions. As you read Neville Goddard’s teachings about the identity and nature of God (summarized and updated for today’s reader), you will begin to understand YOUR identity. Neville taught that God became us so that we could become God, but it’s more of an awakening than a metamorphosis. You, as God, chose to sleep within the confines of your human mind, knowing that you would wake up and reclaim the fullness of being God, knowing you would break free from the limitations of your 3D reality.
In the meantime, you’re molding yourself into the image of whatever you’re focused on in the moment, be it good or bad, wanted or unwanted. Because of that it’s easy to feel lost and alone, to see only shadows around you, and to see a broken person in the mirror. Neville’s wisdom has come to you so that you might be led to the truth—truth that proclaims: You are consciousness. You are the awareness of being. You are God.
