Perhaps you've heard of people who have gone off the grid. But what about those that have seemingly gone completely off the globe? Jimmy Hoffa for example, is one of the most infamous cases of human disappearance on record. He was a high-profile figure who vanished without a trace.

Since his vanishing, there have been countless searches, excavations, and downright manhunts to figure out what happened to him, yet his case is still just as confounding as ever. Unable to find any remains, some have even suggested that perhaps Hoffa faked his own death. Is that possible?

If you believe the case of "Brushy Bill," AKA Billy the Kid, you just might entertain the suggestion. Or what about the case of an actress who disappeared without a trace? The gossip columns had whispered with glee that she was having a fling with Kirk Douglas. Kirk denied all such claims. Nevertheless, it was as if this star-crossed starlet had fallen right off the globe.

Much the same thing meanwhile, could be said for a whole Malaysian Airlines plane that vanished without a trace. To this day no one knows what exactly happened to MH370--although many theories abound.
