Forty. Single. And about to become Accidentally Magical....

Up until 24 hours ago, my life was the definition of basic. And that’s okay, because I was happy with my simple existence; co-running the Lustrous Bean, a bookstore café near the beach with my best friend, Willa.

But when a small mix-up has my entire world going topsy-turvy, I’m realizing that nothing in life is ever as simple as it seems.

Now, it turns out that my best friend is a Fae princess on the run, my cat is a British tyrant, and my dog has the vocabulary of a three-year-old. Yes, vocabulary.

Add in a pair of Fae henchmen and a wickedly handsome coven leader, and I’m starting to think I drank a bad bottle of wine.

So how does a regular girl become the center of a magical world? You’re about to find out....

What a wild bizarre start to this series. I have so many questions! The pets are hilarious. I have no idea where this is going, but I'm going along for the ride. Looking forward to more. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest review. The narrator did a good job bringing it to life.

Characters age would be more believable as late twenties or early thirties at most, but overall, enjoyable.
The narrator didn't have much range as far as different voices, but she announced each character when she spoke in their voice, so transitions were not confusing. You might think that announcement would be annoying, but it wasn't at all once I realized, and paid more attention to the shifts between characters.
This was a very 'light read'. It was only @ 3 hours by as an audio book. If the next book is longer, I will assume there will be more 'meat-on-the-bone', and buy it, although that's not a guarantee it will be something wonderful. The book was formulaic, but the premise was good; two 40 something single women running a bookshop together who then run into magical events. I just didn't believe these two woman were in their 40's. With imagination and ignoring the references to their ages being in their 40's, I thought early 30's at best, and I continued on enjoying the story. There wasn't any swearing or unnecessary, soft porn sex, which is a plus! Overall, a light, happy read.

Not bad but glad it was free
