Years ago, Linda Stoltzfus turned her back on her Amish faith after her father had done the unthinkable. He made her feel as though there was no other choice but to leave everyone and everything that she knew and loved behind. The quest for true happiness was lonelier than she ever imagined. Until one day when she received a call, that would change everything. She finds herself at the place where she used to call home and realizes the true cost of her actions.

There she finds out that Ben, her former sweetheart, has also returned. Though the spark between them still burns, so do the old wounds—her father’s bitter disapproval, Ben’s lingering resentment, and Linda’s uncertain place between two worlds. Once a person is shunned from the community, they are no longer welcome, and the elders make sure that Linda knows it.

As snow blankets the Pennsylvania countryside and the Christmas season unfolds, they must face their shared past and the barriers that still stand between them. When they discover that a misunderstanding is what has kept them apart all these years, both are faced with regret.
