Karigan G'ladheon always seemed to be getting into a fight, and today was no exception.

The rider was slumped over his mount's neck with two arrows embedded in his back. Wherever his horse was taking him, he would be dead before they got there.

Pursued by an unknown assassin, following a path only her horse seems to know, and accompanied by the silent specter of the original messenger, Karigan is going to become a legendary Green Rider herself. Caught up in a world of deadly danger and complex magic, compelled by forces she cannot understand, her simple promise to deliver a letter is about to become a race against time... and a race for her life...

Prepare for a wild ride!

The cover first caught my attention and once I read the blurb I was clicking the 'buy now' button. I was expecting the magic and detail of my childhood favourites, such as Tamora Pierce and Garth Nix, and I was not disappointed.
The Green Rider is the story of Karigan G'ladheon, a suspended school girl marching her way home, is come upon by a dying Green Rider who gives her the responsibility of carrying his message to the King, suddenly her life is propelled into dangers, near-death, monsters and intrigue (all on the back of a horse).
The story has been well read by Ellen Archer, and it was a joy to listen to her perform the narrative (her pace and accents suited the story so well).

My only disappointment is that the rest of the series is not available to UK/Australian listeners, and I eagerly await the rest of the series audio release.
