It's wintertime at Greenglass House. The creaky smuggler's inn is always quiet during this season, and 12-year-old Milo, the innkeepers' adopted son, plans to spend his holidays relaxing. But on the first icy night of vacation, out of nowhere, the guest bell rings. Then rings again. And again. Soon Milo's home is bursting with odd, secretive guests, each one bearing a strange story that is somehow connected to the rambling old house. As objects go missing and tempers flare, Milo and Meddy, the cook's daughter, must decipher clues and untangle the web of deepening mysteries to discover the truth about Greenglass House - and themselves.

I am an adult, so this review is aimed at adults. This is a children's book, but is also a charming story with engaging, if simplistic, characters. It was an afternoon well spent.

The narrator did a good job separating all the characters.

Charming story

Really didn't care for the narrator or main character and actually returned this, then liked the next one and LOVED the prequel so I got this and listened again to understand the whole series better, since there are things later characters fro based on the prequel "Bluecrown", which is AWESOME! An easy and interesting book to listen to, but the lead character and narrator make it less fun

just ok but need to hear to "get" the later books

Wonderful. I would probably leave the review at that one word - winderful - except I've hear authors not only appreciate reviews but that perhaps those reviews occassionally provide encouragement.

This book was a recommendation from a friend on Facebook- not to me personally but to everyone in general. she mentioned that she was only a few chapters in, but it was wonderful and she could already tell that not only would she love it and her kids, but that she felt confident recommending it. That sounded rather confident for only being a few chapters in.

So, I dropped the other books I was reading and grabbed this on Audible (since I had some photo albums to work on). I was also only a few chapters in when I found myself recommending it to a friend as a wonderful story. Now that I've finished it, I can truly say it was wonderful a true delight to listen to. and very worth setting my other books down to let this one cut in line.

Thank to the author for sharing a wonderful talent with me and the world.

Wonderful.

The quarky characters in this book kept me listening long enough for the story to take off. It was a but slow getting started due to many characters being presented at the start and the ground work being laid. Greenglass House was a well told story with many surprises scattered throughout. So pay attention! ☺️
