Here I am, Charlie f--king Whitman - still pissed from last night, driving a rental car with two retarded kids in the back, somewhere between Barcelona and Paris. I used to be an art dealer. I suppose I still am, but now I do bad things for good money. Everything has its price, and I think I've just found mine.

The audiobook is narrated by the author himself, giving the listener additional insight into the mind of Charlie Whitman and the underground art world he inhabits.

If you like Brett Easton Ellis, Chuck Palahniuk, and Hunter S. Thompson - you will feel right at home with Grotesque.

A pleasant and gross surprise

This one was a bit of a surprise. I figured it was going to be a bit, well…disgusting, since it said so on the cover, but I did not plan on it being as intelligent it was at times. And it was definitely disgusting.

There were some of the rudest and most disgusting quotables scattered throughout this one. My wife really enjoyed me laughing and relaying them to her. Ok, maybe not. She’s pretty terrified of the stuff I read in general, so I probably should have just kept quiet.

Watermelon folds and cobalt blue veins, yeasty salt grapefruit piss, wandering the negative space, slushy grey snow angels, a death camp concerto, wanking in a Jag, and the evilution of disgust.

I’m not entirely sure how I ran across this one, but I enjoyed it. Written well with an underlaying story thread that unfortunately got lost a bit under the gross. Still managed to work for me somehow. 3.5 Stars bumped up to 4 because I said so.
