When Rufus, Murphy, Lurena, and their pets go camping, they meet Pedro, a shy boy who seems afraid of just about everything--especially the water. One thing leads to another and the kids go into a nearby town to buy him a pet to cheer him up--a guinea pig, naturally. Yet what they bring home may look like a guinea pig, but it can swim--like an otter!

They have listened to this series many times. Good narration and fun and interesting story.

Great Story; Great Reader

My daughter had read this many, MANY times from ages 6-8. This was undoubtedly a fantastic purchase.

My son’s favorite audiobook

My son listens to this on repeat, it’s his absolute favorite. Fido is such a cool pet! I like listening to the friendship between the boys in the story.

We listened to the individual books from the library before buying the series on Audible. I liked the performance better on the individual books, there’s something different in the series recording that loses a little of the magic. That’s our only complaint.

Entertaining for 9 yo and mom too!

My son LOVES these books. Even though he has read them more than once, he still loves listening to the audiobook in the car or before bed. I find them thoroughly entertaining as well, and the narrator is very good. Light-hearted, funny story, but still touches on some great themes for kids. Especially in the 3rd-5th grade range. Great for any kid who loves animals, but doesn't want the heart-wrenching coming of age themes often involved with animal stores at this level.
