A Gripping, Otherworldly Coming-of-Age Novel

A lonely teen discovers a new door in his family's old summer cottage and unknowingly opens a portal to a terrifying world.

All my life they told me monsters weren't real. They were dead wrong.

Hello. My name is David Rawlingson Junior and I’ve accidentally opened a door into Hell.

When my brothers and I found the locked door to the newly built extension on our rental cottage, the race to find the key was on. Little did I know that exploring the room beyond would create a bridge to countless alternate realities where humans have been eradicated. Ravenous creatures stalk the night, and they want nothing more than to get onto my side and feast.

But time is running out. I can’t get the bridge to break, and the more time I spend on the wrong side of the door digging for clues, the more I fade in my world.

Whatever these creatures are, I’m the only thing in their way. Shit.

This was my first experience with this author's work, and I was very entertained by this book. I enjoyed the fact that I never quite knew where the story was going. At first, I thought it was just going to be a horror story; however, the more I got to know David the more I realized that there were many underlying themes such as fitting in and finding one's place among one's family. I felt for David and all that he experienced. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series. I thought Zachary Locklear's narration enhanced the story's entertainment with his performance. I was given a copy of the audiobook. I volunteered, without financial gain, to post this review which reflected my honest opinions regarding this audiobook.

I started this book blind (No premise, blurb or anything, I just leapt in. I was not dissapointed. The slow pace (Not a boring kind of slow either, more of a methodical ever increasing intensity ) complimented the narration beautifully. The story builds worlds that, once you got enough clues to what is going on, its a jaw dropping forhead smacking conclusion that left me satisfied. A book that I will think about for a while. This book is a SOLID 5 star read for me. I highly recommend this book. I am looking forward to the next one
