Invited to a Private View of the work of controversial artist Denzil Willoughby, the good citizens of Fethering are not quite sure what to expect. And it certainly turns out to be a lively affair, culminating in a confrontation between Willoughby and his ex-lover, followed by a heated argument with the gallery owner and a rival artist. But what no one could have anticipated was that the evening would end in sudden, violent death. While the police seem happy to accept an official verdict of suicide, Fethering residents Carole and Jude remain unconvinced. Deciding to investigate further, Carole and Jude soon discover that the answers lead only to more questions – and that at least one Fethering resident has a dark secret to hide.

More of the same - not highbrow reading or anything, but its fun to follow along with the Featherington crowd while doing the day to day...

I have listened to and/or read every book written by Simon Brett. His plots are great, his descriptions vivid, especially when he narrates. A must read for every Mystery aficionado.

I really like Simon Brett’s detailed description of Carol Seddon snd Jude— the two protagonists — and their lives. The fingering of the murderer is a bit ‘dramatique’ but makes some sense. Simon Brett reads so well, and while it is rushed (as some reviewers have complained), just change the reading speed to .9 and all is well. Excellent in fact.

I usually really enjoy the Fethering series but this particular book was more vulgar than usual.

I don’t care for Simon Brett’s narration. Loved the prior narrator in series. I hope one day they can be re-narrated

Narrator change from prior books in series :-(
