Gorgeous writing and an extraordinary voice

Helen Macdonald’s writing is a profound pleasure. I think her voice is stunningly beautiful, as well. I doubt my words can convey my gratitude for this marvelous work. Gobsmacked!

Lots of well written facts and experiences with and about hawks; particularly goshawks.

Fantastic narration. Frequently authors are not the best readers of their own works, but not in this case. The author/reader was exceptional.

Beautiful story

Helen Macdonald weaves a marvelous narrative of herself and Mabel, while contrasting it with the tumultuous battle between TH White and Gos. Made me tear up a few times. 10/10

No plot, not engaging

I am not sure where all the ratings came from with this book. The reader was incredibly slow and the story itself was uneventful. I listened to this per the upcoming movie which honestly looked a lot better than the book. There was no
Storyline about the girl and her father; only her unhealthy obsession with TH White. It was truly boring the entire way thru. So glad to be finished.
