It’s happening all around her—a blur of panic and pandemonium. Cryptic symbols. A strange, ancient monument. Something about Halloween. Dark silhouettes, overseeing it all. Then: the explosion.

And Kit Chase wrenches awake, stirred in the post-midnight hour by the same terrible dream she’s been having all week.

Between a tattered personal life and her work as a prosecutor for the Office of International Development and Coordination in Kosovo, this isn’t the first time Kit has suffered sleep troubles. This particular dream, however, has her seeking out Natalia, a Tarot card reader and dream therapist, who senses that Kit’s intuition may be hinting at a potential imminent disaster.

Following what breadcrumbs she can, Kit finds herself exploring a wild and rugged corner of the country, where she stumbles on a hidden chamber, full of apocalyptic designs tying back to a shadowy group known as the Black Sun, and an ancient, forgotten empire. Now, confronted with mounting evidence that her dream isn’t just a nightmare, Kit must do what she can to stop the brewing catastrophe before it’s too late.
