I like the story. The writer has some interesting ideas for this unique world. The main problem is the writer doesn't have a large vocabulary, and there is a lot of repetition of words. He desperately needs a thesaurus, but it you can over look that it does feel like a very rich story. Also the AI narrator is terrible, but that isn't the story's fault.

Great story, but....

I have listened to a few of these ai read stories and I generally don't dislike them too much, there are always issues. Not so with this title. I can't tell if it was the delivery or the story that I disliked most.

The strident almost British accented female voice was nearly monotone. it was difficult to tell which character was which. The author sprinkled in acronyms that the AI tried to pronounce leaving your brain on full stop while you attempt to process. Constantly being kicked out of immersion by bad reading definitely didn't help this tale.

Now on to the story. Feels like the author doesn't really know anything about gaming. The main characters make bad decisions frequently and compound them regularly but then power through like the total bad ass new characters they are?

For quite a while almost every conversation started with or revolved around being tired and needing sleep. This constant insipid complaining grates on your nerves since there is very little else to focus on. it didn't even lead to anything so why is it so prevelant? to be absolutely fair I semi tuned out so it may have and I just didn't notice.

And wow, almost everyone in this game is some form of douche or another. The shocking level of toxicity makes it feel like it was written entirely by trolls.

I didn't enjoy this grind even once.
