Claire Barclay finds a home in England after 25 years of travelling. She has money, a tour guide business, and ambitions. She is shocked by the murder in her quiet village, but is not going to give up on the haven she has finally found. With the help of her sister, the barracuda barrister, her new dog, new friends, and the unexpected stimulus of a new man in her life, she deals with suspicion, confusion, and threats.

a bit more philosophical than is my preference but overall I enjoyed it far more than anything I've found on audible recently. this one is rather more than a cozy mystery but there was a lot of groundwork for the character and her life, so it will be interesting to see what the next couple of books are like.
as to the narrator, that extremely plummy accent makes the character sound like a snob, which I don't think she is really.
overall, this is a good, relaxing listen

not fabulous but good solid novel

I loved this. I needed a vacation from reality in America, and this more than provided. Such a pleasant fantasy, everything that happens to our heroine. Intelligent enough to keep me gladly suspending belief and not descending into cynicism. The reader has a lilting voice, very soothing. Thank you, Ms Dakin, for carrying me away. I shall now follow and get more.

The narration was great . English countryside , a tour guide , reference to Dame Agatha Christie was a perfect combination.

A good cozy Murder mystery that checked all the boxes.

I loved each of the characters & getting to know them some briefly but just the right amount The different storylines intertwined beautiful and the narrative is very enjoyable. I am on to the next book, with pleasure.

Wonderful story, characters and narration.
