When a newspaper advertisement introduces her to widower and father-of-two Elijah Crawford, Hazel prepares to leave behind all she has ever known and set about traversing the country with the help of the stranger she will soon call husband and the quirky members of the wagon train. She believes releasing herself of her dear William’s memory and the home they built together will be her greatest struggle, but she soon discovers she has entangled herself in a series of trials so physically and emotionally trying that the true strength she bears within will either prove itself victorious or leave her a ruined woman.
