Scientific Research on Heart as the primary organ for Meta-cognition (Creative Thinking), production of wellbeing hormones and Electro Magnetic Energy Field
Internationally peer-reviewed and groundbreaking scientific research from the Institute of HeartMath including other scientists has revealed the following:
- Heart’s Neurological Communication: via the cardiac nervous system known as the Intrinsic Cardiac Ganglia commonly called the Heart-Brain.
- Heart’s Electromagnetic Communication: The heart has a 5000 times stronger electromagnetic field than the brain that can be recorded 360 degrees and 2-3 feet around the body. This Electromagnetic Energy creates an energy field around the body.
- Heart’s Electrical Field: The heart produces electrical energy that creates an electrical field. Electrical field of the heart – measured by an ECG (Electrocardiogram) is 40-60 times stronger than that of the brain's electrical field measured by an EEG (Electroencephalography).
- Heart’s Biochemical Communication: via the hormones, the heart regulates the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system to control the endocrine as well as exocrine glands. The heart secretes a hormone called Atriopeptin that counteracts the effect of the stress hormone called Cortisol. Via the vagus nerve, the heart in particular controls the Pineal Gland to secrete Melatonin and regulate other opiates (wellbeing hormones) such as Dopamine, Serotonin, and DMT (Dimethyltryptamine). These Pineal gland hormones are responsible for restructuring the brain and hence creating lateral connections via neuroplasticity therefore increasing cognitive capacity as well as healing the brain; getting rid of free radicals that damage healthy cells; decrease stress levels by cleaning toxins from the body.
- Heart’s Biophysical Communication: via pulse waves, the heart sends information through the superhighway of the body called the vagus nerve, the heart communicates with the entire body, especially by sending much more cognitive information to the brain than the other way around.
- Heart’s Vagus Nerve Connection: The information superhighway of the body is the Vagus Nerve, which connects the heart to the brain. The heart sends more signals to the brain than the brain sends to the heart. The heart contains a neuronal circuitry studied under a subject called Neurocardiology. The entire pathway of the intrinsic cardiac ganglia (cardiac nerve cells collectively forming the heart-brain) has been mapped and recognised as the site for Meta-Cognition (Creative Thinking).
