Several years after being plunked back down to Earth, Derek Christian (mediocre music journalist and reluctant space adventurer) finds himself being swept up again by the mysterious Kent to (once again) save the universe, this time from Clone Kent who is assembling an army to invade Zongoland and steal the Creator's secret recipe for doughnuts which contains the secret to all creation. Some things have changed in that time, Clone Derek (who took his place on Earth while he was away) has made Derek a rich and successful writer, but, he harbors a grudge.

Kent is now Interim Creator and in charge of the entire universe--however, by assuming that role he finds that one of the demands of the job is to become a loving, benevolent, being--which he hates. Joining them for the ride is egomaniacal rock god, Vim Starbucket, and Jim Marshall, an underrated, and forgotten, coulda-been rock star. Along the way, the team encounters many extraordinary beings and outrageous situations, mostly brought on by the fact that Kent has entered Zandoze, God's Super Sleep State, from which he can't awaken, Will they get to Zongoland in time? What's Anonymous Manfish doing on board? Who is the mysterious Old Rock Star who makes a last second entrance? And, will Goo Goo Barabajagal press that red button???
