I'm in a predicament of historic proportions. I've learned I can't inherit my grandfather's highly profitable business unless I'm married? Yes, an entirely ridiculous rule.

I live with a herd of rescue cats and nary a boyfriend in sight. I'm also considered plain, sharp-tongued and overweight. And I've never, once been interested in marriage. Hence my reason for applying for a mail-order husband.

The next morning I scream with fright when I find a huge, satanic-looking alien lurking on my doorstep.

Even my cats dart away in fear.

Apparently, I screwed up the application and my invite went on blast to the entire four sectors. Now I'm legally married in absentia to a flame-throwing Hyrrokin male fifteen years my senior. He growls when I mention divorce. Ugh. He needs to go.

But then he gently coaxes a sick, feral kitten into his massive arms and gives it medicine. My heart instantly melts and my body heats up like never before.

Well, maybe I can give this a try.

Second human/Hyrrokin story set on or near the Flagstone Ranch on Tarvos. It follows His Human Runaway, book 11 in the Monsters Love Curvy Girls series. Next up: His Human Rebel, book 12 in the series.
Possible Spoilers:
Burl Sandstone is ranch manager for the Flagstone Fire Ranch and works primarily with Thorn Flagstone. He sees how happy Thorn is in his marriage to the human Mica Roberts and Burl builds his own house as he’s ready to settle down. He knows he’s not a match for any local Hyrrokin female and opts to try an online site for any human matches.
Lucy Hansen is sad at the loss of her grandfather, her last living relative, but screamingly frustrated by a recent change in his will. In order to inherit the family business, she must be wed, happily. In her frustration, Lucy goes online for a husband and she lucks out when Burl is the first one to claim her and fill out the forms for a New Earth marriage in absentia. He immediately travels to Earth to convince her to come to Tarvos for a legally binding Hyrrokin mating. Not a particularly deep story. It makes for a lightly entertaining time out with the continuation of the Flagstone crew.
Zeller and Roeg do a good job with narration.

A very sweet pair

Burl and Lucy's relationship begins backwards but strong. Lucy needs to get married and believes the husband she got will be temporary, but she has not met a Hyrrokin. She's attracted to Burl but doesn't want to give up her freedom, but he will not let her go. I received a free ALC of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Good

This series was starting to feel stale. This book did not feel stale. It was very good.
