Not quite a wife...

After a disastrous wedding night, proper Lady Helena Harteford fears for the fate of her new marriage. Disguised as a doxy, she tracks her husband down at a bawdy house to reason with him...and instead discovers the thrill of forbidden passion. An innocent ruse turns into a risky deception; how far will this once-wallflower go to win her husband's love?

Unfit to be a husband...

Orphaned at an early age, Nicholas Morgan escapes his violent beginnings to become a successful merchant - only to discover that he is the legitimate heir of the Marquess of Harteford. His transition to the ton is rocky and made rockier when he marries above him. Torn between guilt and lust, he tries to protect his sweet, innocent wife from the demons of his past. But can he safeguard her from his own raging desires?

Caught between past and present...

When a dangerous nemesis rises from Nicholas' past, husband and wife must work together in order to survive. Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes.

What other book might you compare Her Husband's Harlot to and why?

None really its a book with its own unique style. Not typical of other regency romance

Have you listened to any of Erin Mallon’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I'm a huge Erin Mallon fan and this narrator is not her, that been said whomever this narrator is she did a great job i enjoy the many voices she used to bring the characters to life.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I did listen to it in 1 sitting. Now I'm going to get some much needed rest and move on to the next in the series.

Any additional comments?

I enjoyed every minute of this book. Loved how Helena didn't give up on her husband. How she discovered her sexual awareness and how she seduce Nicholas. It didn't happened overnight it was a gradual growth overtime and made the story more believable. Nicholas had such a dark and twisted past one cannot fault him for his insecurities. I've read some reviews saying the sex scenes was more like porn and also that the book had a lot of sex scene. This I don't agree with those sex scenes is actually regular sex people have daily and it did not take away from the story. If you can't handle a story like this as an adult then I guess you don't read modern or erotic novels with alpha males and bdsm since thats all most writers seems to write these days. I enjoyed this book immensely and I will be reading it again after I finish seducing my husband.

Not for the faint of heart!!!

If you are listening when working or driving, make sure you have plenty of time to hear BIG dollops of this one. There is an excellent chance you'll have a very hard time putting it aside to do other things in your life. The narrator, Erin Mallon, did an excellent job with a difficult character in the naive young wife who has unwittingly turned her husband away from their marriage bed. She works to woo him back and does so, but the path is twisted and dark. He is a grand character, too, full of personal doubt and misgivings, but with a sense of honor that is truly his own. A wonderful story, well enacted. Looking for more!

BE CAREFUL -- It's hard to stop listening!

The story is ok and redeeming and is a sweet love story, but the characters are so oversexed that it detracts from the story. The author’s constant reference to the sexual organs by their slang and vulgar terms is definitely off putting. It is one thing to have the characters use these terms during a sex scene, but the author’s continual use of the terms when describing the scene is unnecessary and fortuitous. It does nothing to enhance the story.

Very potty mouthed “romance”

This was basically a fun read although the heroine was not really believable. She was brave enough to act but a coward to speak. That hurt the story.

A fun read
