Robert G. Ingersoll (1833-1899) was an enlightened freethinker and an advocate of rational thought. He argues that heresy is the name given by the powerful to the doctrine of the weak. He praised heresy as “the eternal dawn, the morning star, the glittering herald of the day" and "the eternal horizon of progress.”

This is a withering but compelling rant on the absurdities of the Bible and religion, particularly their manifestation in Presbyterianism. Ingersoll‘s takedown of John Calvin is expressed in a vituperative prose style hard to equal. An interesting piece of writing, written with a passionate sense of the demands of reason.

Several mispronunciations skipped words not true to original lecture! Not representing Robert Ingersoll as I understand him.

Not done so well!

please use the correct pronunciations of the words being read. i thought maybe it was just for 'heretic' at first, but it continues throughout the book. its distracting and takes away from the great arguments being made

Very dissatisfied with this audiobook, because the narrator mispronounced so many words. It was very annoying. The narrator needs to spend some time building his vocabulary. I'll look for a hard copy of the book to finish the material.

Great Book, Lousy Narration
