After escaping execution, Hannah finds herself where she's always wanted to be...outside the valley of slaves. But the relief doesn't last, not when the rest of her people are still suffering.

It's time to return.

With the promise of help coming and the strength of new comrades, Hannah and Cash cross the mountains to rejoin the revolution. But winter has come, and the situation has only grown darker. The Outcasts are dying. The rebels are losing ground. With limited time, the rebel soldiers must hurry to try to convince more Watchers to renounce the Council's authority before the South arrives to take back their people.

Interesting Book

I received this audiobook for free in exchange for an impartial review. I listened to the first book in this series and knew I needed to listen to the second book, “Hero”. There is excellent character development and the storyline contains a lot of detail. The rebellion of slaves, with the help of guards who had developed a conscience, is still iffy. The North is sending an army but it hasn’t arrived yet, and things are already dicy. The narrator is excellent!

Good series!

First book was definitely better. This one was slow and a little boring and the main character is annoying but I’m still listening to the last book lol

I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

So, going into this book, I was dreading it. I didn't really enjoy the first book very much. I thought the main character was whiney and weak for someone who supposedly grew up in a harsh, dystopian world. That being said, this book was much better. The main character is not as whiney in this book and comes across as having more strength. A MUCH needed change from the first book. The narration in this book is still very good. I wouldn't classify this book as a favorite, but it definitely redeems itself from the first book.

much better than book 1

Great sequel and builds upon the first book. I had received this book first and after listening I went back and read the first book before going back to this.

It’s a short book so if you don’t like it you didn’t lose too much time and if you did well you’ll eagerly await the sequel

Sequel to Slave
