What would you do if you had proof a natural disaster was about to happen but it would cost millions to save lives? What would you do to cover your tracks if you did nothing and people died?

When Frank Smiley woke up this morning, he thought today was going to be like any other day. He was wrong! Scott Ross, his friend and fellow scientist, is being framed for murder. As a conspiracy between corrupt politicians and ruthless businessmen unfolds, Frank must race against time to save his friend and family from the ruthless killers.

This turns into an amazing ear-catching story. I read the synopsis and was intrigued. Then once I started I kept waiting and waiting I was thinking I missed something. I wasn’t it’s just there is a long lead up to what the synopsis is talking about. I got very involved in their lives and dealing with the politic of their job in the meantime. After “the incident” it becomes very fast paced and a lot of action as I watch these characters vie for their lives.

Overall I enjoyed the story immensely and the characters are really lively. I did listen to this on audio. Bill Burrows did a good job with the voices. In Chapter 10 it seemed multiple lines were repeated.

I enjoyed this action packed adventure

I went into this book with an open mind...and so glad that I did! While the first chapter was a bit slow (yes, it was laying the groundwork), it soon took off. Geologist Frank Smiley works for Bayside Oil Company, most specifically, assigned to the offshore drilling rigs. His most recent invention will pair well with his former colleague and friend, university professor, Scott Ross. Ross's invention can accurately predict earthquakes. As a matter of fact, Ross predicted an earthquake that destroyed a new housing development that incurred fatalities. Now someone has framed Ross for murder and wants to silence both Ross and Smiley. Will Frank Smiley be able to get to the bottom of the attempts on his life and expose high level corruption?
Very engaging story that is well written, with perfectly paired narration. I look forward to more from this new-to-me author and narrator duo.

Fast paced, depth to the key characters, some elements of whodunnit, and with a few modern life messages. An interesting story line combined with a good fit narrator made this a great listen.

Liked it a lot

FYI, I enjoyed the story, but the recording was occasionally popping and cracking. There were was one point where it was hung up and kept repeating it's self. I know it was not my device as I had listen to recordings before and after without a problem.
However, the story was fascinating and hope there is a follow up. The narrator was a perfect choice for the book.

Story and narration great.
