Embark on a Wild West odyssey where gold-seeking turns into a blood-soaked pursuit in 1894.

When former Army officer Oswin Diehl ventures into Mexico in search of fortune, he encounters more than he bargained for—bandits and chaos. Saved by old comrades Ira Hoop and Apache scout Eskaminzim, Diehl is offered a job that leads him to Arizona Territory and a showdown against a powerful conglomerate harassing local mine owners.

As Diehl and his resilient team face off against the hired goons of Consolidated American Mining Corporation, the stakes rise. With the brutal chairman, Kingsley Le May, and an army of operatives led by an old enemy, former Texas Ranger Thomas Breck, the battle turns into a deadly game of wits and survival.

Amidst the dust and gun smoke, alliances are formed, love is kindled, and a desperate struggle for freedom unfolds. Will Diehl, Hoop, Eskaminzim, and the fiery mine owner Catrin Gruffud overcome their adversaries and prevail in the ultimate showdown? The hired guns are locked, loaded, and ready for justice.

I thoroughly enjoyed the characters, intrigue, and action in this book. The pacing strikes the perfect balance between action and exposition. The characters felt real, compelling, and consistent throughout.
I know this is a change of pace for the author, but I’m looking forward to future adventures.

Great story that will go on my reread list!

Well, THAT was fun! An old-fashioned shoot-em-up Western with lots of fun characters, clever dialogue, and laugh-out-loud humor. Yes, there was also plenty of killing, but it was mostly the bad guys. The audiobook narrator, Chuck Galco, did a fabulous job, and I would highly recommend that format.

I've read all the author's Holmes on the Range books, and as much fun as they are, I loved this one even more. I'm ready to listen to the next one!

P.S. Steve, did you name that one minor character after me? LOL

Excellent narration and delightful story

This was my first book by Hackensmith, I very much liked his writing. The story flowed very well and with good pace. Held my interest as I was driving. Chuck Galco has great character voices. I very much enjoyed listening to him. This was so much easier to listen to than several of the new A.I. voices the publishers are trying, I find them very painful for listening to. I will look for more titles from this author and this narrator.

Great Story with Great Narrator
