Jefferson Condemned by his own Masterly Pen

Kaplan does an excellent job leading the reader through Jefferson's life, in Jefferson's own words. He doesn't show Jefferson through rose colored glasses or gloss over his flaws but rather allows Jefferson to tell you who he is and what he's about...and it is UGLY. And wonderful. The more I read about Washington, the more I admire him. The more I read about Jefferson, the less I admire him. This book validates that feeling in a respectful way and manages to avoid turning into a Freneau style smear piece. This is the best TJ book to be released in recent years!

The narrator also does an excellent job! His "Jefferson" voice perfectly captures the pomposity and hypocritical nature of Jefferson'. I loved to hate it!
