Harper Valiant, a successful self-made millionaire, is on the verge of sealing a monumental fifty-million-dollar deal - the most significant opportunity of his career. However, there's a major hurdle: the company in question is owned by Jackson Thompson & Rowe, a corporate titan known for upholding traditional family values in its operations. Within this company, promotions heavily favor employees with spouses and children, as they are perceived to have greater financial responsibilities.

A highly eligible and intelligent bachelor, Harper Valiant, recognizes that he can not progress with the deal without the appearance of a family. The situation worsens when he learns that attending the company's annual Thanksgiving through New Year's Eve event hosted by President Malik Jackson requires him to bring along a family, a fact he had somewhat exaggerated earlier.

Meanwhile, Candle Lane, living in a disadvantaged neighborhood, had her academic aspirations put on hold after discovering an unexpected pregnancy, despite having secured a scholarship to an Ivy League college.

Struggling to pay her community college tuition, a friend suggests a lucrative offer: a wealthy client is seeking a beautiful woman and a baby to pose as his family until the New Year, with significant compensation.

Will Candle accept the proposition to act as Harper's temporary family? And will Harper prioritize love over financial gain in this unusual arrangement?

Two things drew me into this title: it was a fake-marriage trope (one of my fave in romance), and the audio narrator’s voice had a southern accent. What I really enjoyed about this love story is that all the main characters were likable. Usually in these fake marriage tropes, the guy behaves like a snobbish tyrant in the beginning. But Harper will become your book boyfriend in the way he loves on Candle emotionally and treats her son as if he were his own from the beginning. This is a man not only who is described as attractive, but a man of integrity. He was everything a woman dreams of in a man. The story also had a bit of mystery. There were enemies in the mist and an unsolved double murder. All I will say about that is you can’t trust everyone. I’m looking forward to more romance stories from this author in the future!
