A good historical overview

It is a good cursory overview of the Dominican Republic’s history. It is a good starting point.

Good quick summary for planned visit

So glad it starts with the indigenous people, often overlooked in online versions. A bit repetitive in its language sometimes but covers the essentials for a good overview.

Mostly fluff

Feels like it was written by ChatGPT. Very heavy on fluff, the information density is super low, you learn very few facts per chapter. You get more information just by skimming the Wikipedia page. Waste of time.

Prehistoric information

Liked the chronology and incorporation of regional happenings to help explain the history. Reading is very clear and easy to follow.

The lies that this book promotes. This not the real history of Dominican Republic, it is an invention of history which is a lie.

The author of this book didn’t get his facts from the history of the General Archives of the Dominican Republic witch are the original documents of the nation, he just invented a story that does not reflect reality. Audiobooks is a prestigious book collection that needs to be protected by of falsehood. I am a Dominican scholar and I like the truth to be told, not an invention of facts.
