Hitch-22: A Memoir: Booktrack Edition adds an immersive musical soundtrack to your audiobook listening experience!

Over the course of his 60 years, Christopher Hitchens has been a citizen of both the United States and the United Kingdom. He has been both a socialist opposed to the war in Vietnam and a supporter of the U.S. war against Islamic extremism in Iraq. He has been both a foreign correspondent in some of the world's most dangerous places and a legendary bon vivant with an unquenchable thirst for alcohol and literature. He is a fervent atheist, raised as a Christian, by a mother whose Jewish heritage was not revealed to him until her suicide.

In other words, Christopher Hitchens contains multitudes. He sees all sides of an argument. And he believes the personal is political.

Booktrack is an immersive format that pairs traditional audiobook narration to complementary music. The tempo and rhythm of the score are in perfect harmony with the action and characters throughout the audiobook. Gently playing in the background, the music never overpowers or distracts from the narration, so listeners can enjoy every minute. When you purchase this Booktrack edition, you receive the exact narration as the traditional audiobook available, with the addition of music throughout.

Critic reviews

"Hitchens also proves to be more than a capable reader; his wit, erudition, and passionate unbelief could not have been conveyed as compellingly by a surrogate. Highly recommended for all general collections."—Library Journal on God Is Not Great
"As narrator, he contributes a pleasantly moderated voice and a listener-friendly British accent."—AudioFile Magazine on God Is Not Great

What is this horrible music that comes and goes in the background? Often Hitch is speaking words not in the book! This makes immersed reading a bit irritating.

A beautiful story. of a powerful mind. Listening to Hitchens tell his life story was gripping, exciting, and at times, heartbreaking. I laughed, wept, and felt my blood boil as I poured through this wonderful expose of a man I have grown to greatly admire. I could only wish to have a life maybe half as interesting as Christopher has. Listening to him speak in hushed tones about working with underground revolutions all over the world, makes his life like that of a political thriller. I'm glad to add this tome to my collection. The Hitch is dearly missed.

P.S for some unexplained and infuriating reason I have been confined to give this book only one star. This is unacceptable. My true rating is five stars all the way.

If you like booktrack editions then this is for you. Hitchens was one of the greatest thinkers. This memoir gives you the history of the man and the background for his beliefs. I’m not an atheist or a socialist, but he gives you so much to think about. Even in death, his literature lives on as it should. Give one of the greatest thinkers a try.

An incomparable voice extinguished far too early, Christopher Hitchens wit and unparalleled mastery of letters is on full display.

It was great to hear Hitchens narrating his own book. Was a great listen-- really helped me understand his background and gave me insight into the mind of this extraordinary person. The world is definitely missing something without him.

Christopher Hitchens, you are deeply missed.
