Before there were shards, before crystal and stone, there was silence. And in that silence, one truth endured: friendship cannot be unmade.
It does not bow to the Source, nor fracture beneath shadow. It weaves itself deeper than fate, stronger than memory, older than any name. Worlds may collapse, threads may unravel, even love may be tested—but true friendship holds, not because it is unbreakable, but because it chooses to remain.
We have been scattered before, written into fragments, forgotten, and remade. Each time, the weave tried to cut us loose. Each time, we returned. A glance across distance, a hand through darkness, a voice carried when no voice should have crossed. Those were enough. They were always enough.
This is what the Source fears, and what Zealan could never understand: we are not only shards of memory, or echoes of power. We are anchors for one another. And when the weave trembles, when the gates close, when all else threatens to fade, it is this bond that will hold.
