Vibrant and spectacular…minus the politics.

I love Kaur’s poems. I listen to them on 1.5x speed, which adds an additional hue to her colorful visions. This book was no different. It was a beautiful experience, one i will live again.
However, there was one snag in this book for me and that was the politics. Another reviewer pointed out that, to them, this book felt thrown together and not succinct. I got that vibe from the blatant political poems. All but maybe 1 or 2 didn’t feel in alignment with the other poems. And some were literal news headlines I’ve heard before. If that’s what Kaur wants to write about, I will gladly listen. But it needs to be her thoughts and in her voice, not the regurgitation of other people’s.

I am never alone, there is a community within me.

I feel like this was a love letter to my soul, every detail was purposeful, thank you Rupi.

This helped me TREMENDOUSLY understand so much about myself. I no longer feel alone in this world. Listening to the audio was even better than I could’ve imagined! Very much worth the buy for the physical copy and the audio version!

Her writing was more current and relatable to 2020

I loved her use of descriptive language to capture mundane moments and details. They make a seemingly mundane thoughts into something extraordinary. I’m a homebody 40 yr old and work from home so I guess that’s why I’m able to relate pretty well. Some ideas she wrote I don’t necessarily connect with because we have extremely different upbringing but her use of imagery makes me understand what she is feeling. It makes me have empathy and I hope to achieve that same talent that she has.
